This is the official home page for the Jasper County GAGenWeb Project. We are a group of volunteers working together to provide Internet websites for genealogical research in every county in the State of Georgia. This Project is non-commercial and fully committed to free access for everyone. GAGenWeb Project members are located throughout the world, not just in Georgia. We rely on the resources of the Internet and on volunteers who are able to transcribe primary documents to assist us in getting information on line.
This web site is not a part of any Jasper County Government web site. I have listed some telephone numbers for government and other local resources at the link below, or you may click here to get to them.

Jasper County, Georgia History
Jasper County was created December 10, 1807 from Baldwin County, number 31 in the order of creation. It was originally named Randolph County. (The present-day Randolph County was created on December 20, 1828) A part of Jasper was set off to Morgan in 1815 and a part to Newton in 1821. The name was changed December 10, 1812. Jasper County was named in honor of William Jasper, who was an officer in Colonel William Moultrie's Second South Carolina Infantry, 1775.
