Friday Services Set For Mrs. L.V. Barrett
Mrs. Lucy Vaughn Barrett, member of a well known Floyd County family died
early this morning at her home 707 Avenue B. Mrs. Barrett had been in
declining health for several months, her condition having been critical for
the past three weeks.
Born in Conyers, Ga. on July 6, 1882, Mrs. Barrett was the former Miss
Lucy Vaughn, daughter of the late James I. and Frances Whitaker Vaughn. She
had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and was a member of the
Pleasant Valley North Baptist Church. She was married on March 10, 1901 to
Arthur A. Barrett who survives her.
Surviving besides her husband are five daughters, Mrs. M. R. Fricks and
Mrs. C. E. Brooks both of Rome; Mrs. John L. Fricks of Carrollton, Mrs. J.
C. Smith of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Earl E. Espy of Rossville; two sons,
Lewis Barrett of Rome and Harry Barrett of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. D.
F. Ellis of Rome and Mrs. George Alford of Acworth; two brothers, Hubert
Vaughn of Rome and Hoyt Vaughn of Atlanta. Nineteen grandchildren, seventeen
great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. from the chapel of
the Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. J. O. Crabbe and Rev. Harry
Sutton will officiate with interment to follow in the family lot in the Wax
Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the
funeral home at 2:45 p.m. They include Wilson Pinion, Bobby Ellis, G.J.
Alford, Jr., Roy Walreven and C. W. Barrett, Jr.
The body will remain at the Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home and the family
will receive friends tonight between 7 and 9 p.m.
The Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home has charge of the funeral
arrangements.
