Mrs. Awilda Laura Oubre Brooks, age 93, of 233 Bells Ferry Road, passed away Friday at 6:20 P.M. in a Rome hospital. Mrs. Brooks was born in Pointe Coupe Parish Louisiana, July 20, 1900, daughter of the late Vallery Oubre and Orrillia Roubbilard Oubre. Mrs. Brooks was a communicant of Saint Mary's Catholic church since 1934 and was retired as Lunchroom Manager from Saint Mary's School. She was also a member of Saint Mary's Altar Society and the Hilltoppers Senior Citizens Club and was the last living Charter member of the Catholic Daughers of America of Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Morganza Louisiana. Her husband C. W. Brooks preceded her in death in 1961. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ann Brooks Payne of Rome, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass for Mrs. Brooks will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Saint Mary' Catholic Church with Father James Miceli. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Brooks will remain at Jennings Funeral Home where the Rosary will be said tonight at 7 P. M. with visitation to follow. Pallbearers include Herb Landry, Alfred Searies, Ken Patton, Robert Newton, and Emil Helbing and they are asked to meet at Jennings Funeral Home at 12:20 P.M. Monday. Jennings funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Awilda Laura Oubre Brooks. Those desiring may make contributions to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund.
