Brantley was created by the Georgia Legislature in 1920. The Amendment to
the Georgia Constitution on August 14, 1920, with the election of county
officers occurring in December 1920. These newly elected officers began serving
the County on January 1, 1921. The issuance of Brantley
County marriage license's also began on that
date. Prior to that date, marriage licenses
were issued by our mother counties; Charlton, Pierce, and Wayne. |

AVAILABLE Brantley County Marriages are available in a convenient
booklet form. These booklets are computer printed, copied on direct image
copiers, and are bound by spiral rings, with a plastic front cover (durable
back cover). They are available at the Nahunta Library on U.S. highway 82,
or can be ordered through mail, c/o Brantley County Historical and Preservation
Society, Inc., Post Office Box 1096, Nahunta, Georgia, 31553.. (The Brantley Co. Historical and
Preservation Society is a "not-for-profit" organization; income is reinvested
in supplies and equipment to make other genealogy and historical information

Groom and Bride's name, and provides date of marriage and reference number. |

Bride's name, and provides date of marriage and reference number. |
| VOLUME III - 1961 - 1970: Completed
in July, 1997, this volume contains over 7,000 marriages (approx 285 pages),
sorted by both Bride and Groom 's name for ease of reference; provides both
names, date of marriage, and County Reference Number. |
