Mission

Encourage Society members and the community to
 find their  ancestors and connect with the past.

Provide enlightening speakers at the monthly meetings
on relative topics to aid, assist and better our research.

Promote the use of and growth of our genealogy research
room develop our resources and grow our collection.

Society Dues are used to purchase books relevant to the
research our members are involved with and to provide
speakers that benefit our research.

Society Members are special people. The monthly meetings
are gatherings of good times shared as well as sharing of
useful research tools or ideas.

We are lucky to share similar ideals and goals with five
other  Genealogy Societies in our area,  sharing collections, 
ideas and  most important connections.

History and Genealogy Room

VCGS assists the Volusia County Library at City Island by
staffing the wonderful Genealogy and  History Research Room.

Society Members are on hand to offer assistance with your 
family roots, whether you are a beginner or a veteran researcher.

Lineage application assistance for DAR, SAR , UDC, SCV, M.O.S.B.,
N.E.W., DAC,  DUV, 1812, Jamestowne Society, Mayflower Society 
and Florida Pioneers, all  represented by members and registers.

There is a fine collection of Family books, “How To”  Genealogy
books, Florida History section, Census , State and County books.

We have African – American Collection, Native American Collection,
Military History Materials, German, Irish, British Island, Scotland,
Passenger Lists and heraldry references. Numerous collections of
Genealogy periodicals and historical magazines.

Vertical files containing family surname lineage research collections.
Two online computers with laser printer for genealogy use, including
many FTM and Quaker records on CD.

Meetings 

Regular meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Thursday of
each month, from 6-8pm (except July and August) at the
Daytona Beach Regional Library Meeting Room on City Island. Visitors always welcome.
