Hopefully there is someone out there who might be able to identify those in the pictures.
STRANGERS IN THE BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, or when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be.......
The strangers in the box.

I am happy to to say, that one of the unknown pictures posted on the Jackson Co., FL for me, has been identified, the top picture on the right of the young man, has been identified as William Henry Byrd, the son of John William Byrd and Mary Elizabeth(Lizzie) Fulgham Byrd. Thank you again for posting these pictures to your site. I am hoping more pictures will soon be identified.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth P. Walters
![]() Note on the 1800 photo, this was on an old tin snip, and it is believed that it is a photo of Catharine Nobles, Sarah Fulgham Peacock and possibly a sister of Sarah's. But, I would like to know for sure, and hopefully someone out there might know.:) |
