Florida Genealogical SocietyThe Florida Genealogical Society of Tampa meets the third Saturday of each month (except for December) at 10 AM. Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings are held in the John F. Germany Library Auditorium, 900 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa, and admission to the meeting is free. The Southern Research Special Interest Group meets at 1 PM in the Armitage Room of the John F. Germany Library's History and Genealogy Department.
Membership is open to all persons interested in genealogical research, and is not limited to those whose ancestors were from the Tampa area. The Society, formed in 1958, is a non-profit organization, staffed by members who volunteer their time. Membership dues are used to pay for speakers, books for the John F. Germany Library, expenses at the annual Fall Seminar, refreshments at the annual Holiday Party, and printing/mailing of the Journal and the Newsletter. Queries in the Journal are free to all members.
The membership period is January 1st through December 31st. Annual dues are $20 for Individual membership and $25 for Family membership (two individuals at the same mailing address, receiving only one copy of any print publications). Your check and your completed membership application form can be mailed to the address at the bottom of this page for consideration of membership, or they can be given to the Treasurer at a regular meeting.
The members of the Florida Genealogical Society will do local research at the rate of $15/hour and $0.25/printed copy. Send research requests to the e-mail address or mailing address provided below.
