Dear Friends of Genealogy: Welcome to the official website of the Charlotte County Genealogical Society, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation serving Charlotte County in Southwest Florida since 1976. Our mission is to assist and educate our members and our community in their quest for genealogical and historical information. The year 2006 marked our 30th anniversary, and 2007 promises to be another exciting year as we continue to partner with the new Mid-County Regional Library to fulfill our mutual goals of serving the public and providing assistance to those researching their family history. The genealogy research room in the library houses our collection of books, family histories, genealogy periodicals, lineage society records, genealogy CDs, and CCGS publications. Two computers, a microfilm/fiche reader, and volunteers are available to assist you. CCGS also plans to offer workshops, help sessions, and classes on genealogical topics. Watch for details on our website and in the local newspapers. The Genealogical Society meets monthly (except for July and August) on the third Wednesday. We offer monthly programs, special interest group gatherings, and the opportunity to meet other genealogists. Meeting time and location are posted on the "About our Society" page. Members receive our monthly newsletter, the Geneagram, which contains genealogical tips and articles, Society events, and member information. We invite you to join our Society or at least attend one of our meetings as a guest. And please stop by the library and meet our volunteers, sign up for our free classes, visit our website often, and tell your friends about our group.
