| GILLETTE | 5/16/99 | Robert C. Gillette | I need help solidifying William GILLETTE of WETHERSFIELD CT. Supposedly born at Wethersfield March 15, either 1699 or 1700. His parents were possibly John GILLETTE (Gillett) and Sarah Tryon. He also supposedly m. Elizabeth Welch Nov 14, 1722. He may appear as a blacksmith and a Doctor. William's parents John and Sarah should be found in Wethersfield between 1675 and 1717. The children of this John and Sarah, all born in Wethersfield, were Abel, the William mentioned herein, John, Hannah, Sarah, Samuel, Mary and Hope. When I say I need help "solidifying" this William, the problem is not just whether he exists as stated here, but whether he is the same William GILLETTE who removed to Milford around 1722. Either this is ONE man, or, two William GILLETTEs have been confused together. I need to solidly nail it down. It is VERY important to me. I need to find as much solid documentation on him/them as I possibly can. Also, I will happily take genealogy info on ANY and ALL families surnamed GILLETTE. Address, Robert C. Gillette, P.O. Box 3028, Sonora, CA 95370. |
| GILLETTE | 5/16/99 | Robert C. Gillette | Researching the GILLETTE family of Wethersfield. It is claimed that William GILLETTE was born at Wethersfield CT, 15 Mar, 1699/1700, and that his parents were John GILLETTE and Sarah Tryon, both of Wethersfield. I am attempting to prove or disprove that. This William GILLETTE might have been a blacksmith and/or doctor, and supposedly m. Elizabeth Welch Nov 14, 1722. Siblings to William GILLETTE, all born in Wethersfield, were John, Hannah, Sarah, Samuel, Mary and Hope.Supposedly William was buried in Wethersfield. Contradictions make this same William GILLETTE to have moved to Milford, CT late in life and to be buried there. I need to get this Wethersfield family solid. Too many claims, without citing sources. |

| LOVELAND, BIGELOW | 4/19/98 | James Davis | I'm looking for information about one set of my 4th great-grandparents.
They were Joseph LOVELAND (born April 14, 1747) and his wife, Mercy BIGELOW

County, VT, where they died. Included was the fact that Joseph was born
in Weathersfield(?sp), CT. Mercy's birthplace was not mentioned.
From another LOVELAND family researcher in NY, I received a list of many descendants of a John LOVELAND who was born c1620 in Norwich, Norfolk County, England. His son, Thomas died in Glastonburg, Hartford County, CT after 1716. Since my atlas shows that Wethersfield and Glastonburg are very close together, I assume that John and Thomas were ancestors of Joseph and me. If you are interested in the descendants of Joseph LOVELAND and especially of his son, John, who was one of the earliest settlers of New Haven, Huron County, OH (where I was born), I would be glad to share what I know. |

Henry¹s parents, Simon KILBOURN (1760-1840) and Eunice KIRKHAM (1764-1847) are also buried in Newington Cemetery; I assume this means the family lived in the area for some time. Family stories indicate we are connected with earlier SEDGWICKs in Hartford county, other parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts, but searches have resulted in a critical gap between Huldah SEDGWICK and the rest of the clan. To confuse things further, the cemetery inscription lists her as ³Huldah B.² |

| WADHAM | 4/19/98 | Charles Wadhams | I am searching the documentation on my surname ancestor John Wadham
of Wethersfield.
I am trying to establish his date of birth(age at death etc) and any clues to when and from where he arrived. Ther was a family in Plymouth Eng that had a son who married in 1610, and his wife and dau subsequently died. the familiy had several ships, and John is reported to have come and gone from Wethersfield several times. I have a number of land references to the vol 1 of the Wethersfield VR M&B the index to deeds list in v1 pp 6,25,28,40,136. The LDS has sent me photo copies of these faded and almost unreadable documents. p6 seems to be a land sale about 6 July 1643 between John Sadler of Wethersfield and a Matthew Gibons of Hartford, in which Sadler states the land in question was purchased from John Wadham on the (13) of March 1642 by Sadler's father. Naturally Wadhams had to be there to purchase the land prior to that time. This refutes the data in say Savage putting him there in 1655. Do you know of any other records, that would tend to clarify this matter? In addition I am trying to find any possible shipping record, manifests etc that might show owners and captains of merchant ships. My theory is that while he was not a mariner, maybe his father was, and he came to Wethersfield and bought land, returning later to settle there. Your input would be appreciated, Thank you. |
| WARNER | 12/13/97 | Myrna Moe | I am looking for the parents of Moses Warner. b. 4/17/ 1741 in Suffield,

Elizabeth Trumbull, 20, Dec. 1718 in Suffield, Hartford Co, CT If Moses had a brother, John, born Feb. 4, 1730, then: John W. and Elizabeth CURTIS could be his parents. But John W. and Elizabeth French also had a son, John, on Aug. 9, 1723 in Suffield, Hartford, Co, CT. It would seem that John and Elizabeth French would be the parents of John and Moses. |
