The San Fernando Valley Genealogical Society


Purpose:
Organized in 1981, the Society exists to encourage genealogical research and interest in family history; help others gather genealogical information; and preserve historical and genealogical material.

Regular meetings are held the third Friday of the month, 7:30-9:30 P.M. There are no meetings for the months of August and December. Meetings are held at the Balboa Mission Town Hall, 16916 San Fernando Mission Blvd. (in the Balboa Shopping Center, four doors east of the Ross Store), Granada Hills. The main feature of each meeting is a guest speaker presenting a program of genealogical interest. Society business is conducted as needed, including announcements of activities of related societies. Refreshments are provided. Meetings are free to the public.

We can not answer general queries. The only information we have is from our indexes of San Fernando Valley newspapers between 1911 and 1945. Check to see if your ancestor is on our list of names, and if you find the name you are searching send a query for the detailed listing. S.F.V.G.S. Bulletin
:
Our newsletter is published monthly except for the months of August and December. The Bulletin includes announcements of speakers and other items of interest to the membership, including family queries.

Membership:
Open to anyone interested in genealogy. Dues include a subscription to the S.F.V.G.S. Bulletin.
Individual: $25
Family: $30
Senior Citizen (age 65 and over): $20
