We hope you find our site useful and enjoyable. Sloughhouse (pronounced 'slew house') lies at the base of the Gold Country foothills just east of Sacramento, California. This site has research information mostly for Sacramento County but has some information for research within the State of California, surnames that are being researched by our members (not necessarily in California) and much more!
From our area, we can see the lights of the Valley and the snow capped peaks of the Northern Sierra's (even in the summer you can see a bit of snow). Sloughhouse and Rancho Murieta are basically "in the country". Though the city is close, we are fortunate to still feel like we "are in the country". In the surrounding hills there are cows and horses or creatures of nature such as deer, owls, rabbits and even a mountain lion or two. (Yes, mountain lions!)
Members in our group are researching many different families; currently there are about 200 surnames that are actively being researched. Please browse our list of surnames and queries; your surnames may be ours. Sloughhouse AGS has logged and transcribed inscriptions from local area cemeteries. The cemetery list contains approximately 500 surnames of those buried in the cemeteries.
