Land of Good Water (Takachue Pouetsu in Tonkawa) is an eloquent description of the history of Williamson County, Texas in central Texas just north of Austin. Discusses the native Americans who once inhabited the land, the history of Spanish colonial times and Mexican rule, and the subsequent Anglo-American settlement with chapters dealing with ethnic groups, the Civil War, railroads, and of course the last century (20th century). Social, economic, political trends and information about the pioneering families including my own, the family of James Hill Casey who came to Williamson Co., in 1851. This wonderful book has a great deal to offer researchers whose families may have been in that part of the country in the past or present, and I was pleased to find the book still in print and for sale at Hill Country Bookstore on the square in Georgetown, Texas. I have seen it for sale also online, but for those needing lookups to see if their ancestors are in the book, prior to spending the time, effort, and money to purchase it, I am willing to look through the book for you.
