"From The Midnight Sun to The Long White Cloud - Finns in New Zealand." Olavi Koivukangas - Institute of Migration, Turku, Finland - 1996. This book is a history of Finns in New Zealand, with some biographies and photos - but the main part that I think would be useful to people is the surname index at the end, which lists all (or at least many) of the Finns who came to New Zealand between 1857 and 1990. Even if they didn't stay, they are still listed. DC10

"Kaskiselan Jantuset." (Jantunen's of Kaskiselka) Jantusen Sukuseura members, publisher Jarmo Paikkala, 1998 Kaskiselan Jantuset - Jantunen family society has published this family history book in December 1998, of the Jantunen family from the Kaskiselka area of Karelia (Karjala). It contains a comprehensive listing of the Jantunen family tree from 1670 onward, with earlier ancestors information as far back as 1554. All Jantunen's of Kaskiselka are indexed with birthdates. The index also contains references to many other surnames (mostly finnish) married to Jantunen descendants from 1670 forward. BLF

"Life in the New Finland Woods." New Finland Historical and Heritage Society, 1982. Contains information on over 150 families that emigrated to New Finland, Saskatchewan from Finland from roughly 1895 to 1940. Contains Finnish birthplaces and dates of emigrants for those families as well as information on Canadian descendants. Vol 2 is now available as of 2001 and can also be researched. BLF

Anjalan Parish

"Anjalan Historia." Eeva-Liisa Oksanen, Myllykosken Kirjapaino Oy, 1981. History of Anjalakoski and surrounding area, entirely in Finnish. Does contain names of families living in area around that time. Would be able to look up names and provide finnish text related to the name. BLF

"Karjala Muistojen." Maa Olavi Paavolainen, Maija Suova, WSOY, 1991. History of Karjala with text, photographs of scenes and major landmarks by area: Antrea, Harlu, Heinjoki, Hiitola, Impilahti, Jaakkima ja Lahdenpohja, Johannes, Jaaski, Kanneljarvi, Kaukola, Kirvu, Kivennapa,Koivisto, Korpiselka, Kuolemajarvi, Kurkijoki, Lumivaara, Metsapirtti, Muolaa, Pyhajarvi, Vuoksela and many more areas. Entirely in Finnish. Would be able to look up names and provide finnish text related to the name. BLF

Vuoksenrannan Mennyt Maailma Tatu Vanhanen, Vuoksenrannan Pitajaseura r.y. 1993. History of Vuoksenranta area of Karjala with family stories and photographs. Entirely in Finnish. Would be able to look up names and provide finnish text related to the name. BLF

Vaasa LŠŠnit (County)

Kalvia, Vaasa, Finland - 2 volume set of books. Uuno Huhtala, Gummerus Kirjapaino Oy, Juvaskyla, 1989. This is a complete genealogical history taken from church and civic records for this and surrounding towns. It is complete with names, birth,marriage, and death dates, also a history of the area and each family (if information was available). It is in Finnish and Swedish. LF4
