SPEAKER PROGRAM

General meetings are held in the meeting room at the rear of the Qualicum Beach branch of The Royal Canadian Legion at 180 E. 1st Avenue, Qualicum Beach, on the third Wednesday of each month at  7:00 p.m. Please note that there will be no meetings in July and August. 

June 18, 2008 - Summer social plus program.  Betty Houghton and Sandra Hupp are selling tickets for our famous Beef ‘n’ Bun June Social, $7 each. The meal also includes salad, desserts, and a beverage; and maybe a door-prize!

NOTE: We are going “Green” – please bring your own plate and cutlery. (Betty will have some spares if you forget) Optional to bring a Cup.

September 17th, 2008 – Celebration of QBFHS’s 5th anniversary with a special program -  Sid Norman, a member of the Nanaimo Family History Society will talk about “The rest of the story”.  Sid’s research about his father is so fascinating that it was chosen to be featured on the “Ancestors in the  Attic” television program.

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Beginner’s Genealogy Course

The Society gives a course to get you started on your family history reaearch. Even if you feel the need to review your knowledge this may also be a good course for you. The classes are held at the LDS Family History Centre, 591 Arbutus St., Qualicum Beach, BC. Each class starts at 1.30 p.m., lasts approximately two hours and is free of charge. Please call Donna Fraser at 752-7252 to register for the next session. 

Learn by attending the Nanaimo Family History Society meetings.    Members of the Qualicum Beach Family History Society are welcome to attend society meetings as guests on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7.30 p.m. Our members are also able to conduct research in the Nanaimo FHS genealogical library. SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS  
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are held during the months of November, January, February and March. 

These group meetings are a great way to meet informally with others who share your common area of interest.  SIGs are an opportunity for experienced researchers to help others with their research problems.  No need to register, just show up on the designated dates at 2:00 p.m. Sessions are held at the Family History Center, 591 Arbutus Street, Qualicum Beach.  Everyone is welcome.

SIG's will resume in November 2008.
