About our Namesake:

 

Capt. Ezra Jones Dutch was Master of the Brig "Factor." She was

captured in September 1812 by the Brtitish on the high seas. All were

detained in Bermuda and later returned to NY. Capt. Dutch served

until the end of the War of 1812. He was born in Salem, MA 7 Oct 1784

to DAR Patriot John Dutch and Fanny Jones. He married Matilde

Caroline Thornington in NY. He died 17 Feb 1849 in Beardstown, IL.

 

 

Membership

 

Any woman over 18 years of age, of good character,

 and any child up to 21 years of age,

who offers satisfactory proof of lineal descent from an ancestor who rendered civil,

 military, or naval service during the years 1784-1815 is eligible to membership,

provided the applicant is acceptable to the society. Membership is by invitation only.

 

Meeting Dates

 

Monday, April 28,

 

The last meeting of the Capt. Ezra Jones Dutch Chapter Daughters of 1812 will be held on

 Monday April 28, 2008 at the gated Courtyards of Westminster at 222 Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton.

Street parking is free for 2 hours but limited. It is $.25 an hour metered across the street in the city lot.

Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. Cost of lunch is $16.50 which includes:

 French Onion Soup, Almond Crusted Chicken Caesar Salad, rolls, coffee and tea, and

 French Silk Pie. Food here is plentiful and delicious. Bring a “baggie” for leftovers.

If you are not yet a member, you are welcome. We will find someone

 to help you with your research for this special Society, if needed. 

The business meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. Dues are due at this time.

 If you are coming for lunch, please send a check to Treasurer Jean Newbegin for $53.50 which covers lunch and dues.

 

If you will not be attending, please send a check to Treasurer Jean Newbegin

 for $37.00 for dues. All checks should be made out to: Ezra Jones Dutch Chapter.

 Jean must give me an exact count  for lunch by April 19th. Jean’s address is: 419 Lansbrook Dr
