Mission Statement

The purpose of the Stone County Historical Society shall be to preserve the history of Stone County, its people and culture for future generations.  The society shall seek to accomplish this by

1) providing members a publication titled, Heritage of Stone
2) making membership available to anyone interested in the history of Stone County
3) encouraging the cooperation of other organizations and individuals
4) encouraging school students to be interested in history and to support preservation
    activities.

In addition, the Stone County Historical Society maintains the Stone County Museum and the Loy and Freda Daum Massey Research Room.

Membership is available for $15 per calendar year.  With paid membership, you will receive the Heritage of Stone issues published for the membership year free.   Print the Membership Form in html or Word file.

Quarterly meetings are held quarterly at the Stone County Museum in the Loy and Freda Daum Massey Research Room at 2:00 PM.

      March 12, 2006 -- Program: Virgil "Jack" Thomas
      June 11, 2006 -- Program: Jay Kaffka: Civil War in Stone County
      September 10, 2006 -- Program: Stephanie Labert: The Encyclopedia of
                                                  Arkansas History & Culture
      December -- No program scheduled.  Christmas "feast"
      March 11, 2007 -- Program: Tommy Simmons: Missouri & North Arkansas 
                                            Railroad and the Arlberg Community

Museum Open House

New Publication  Stone County Marriage Records 1873-1964.  Compiled by James and Carolyn Cushing. 2006.  This marriage record book is 233 pages in length and is available for purchase.  Cost is $28 plus $3 shipping. 

SCHS News is available to the let members know the status of upcoming publications, events, and the restoration project.
