Randolph County

In 1832, the Alabama Legislature created Randolph County from land ceded by the Creek Indians, naming the county for John Randolph, a Virginia statesman. The county seat was established in Wedowee.

Genealogical Research

All probate records were destroyed in a courthouse fire in 1897. This can make research difficult, but alternate sourcescan sometimes be used to overcome the loss of official records.
The public library in Roanoke contains a small collection of books on genealogy and local history.
