Collegiate Examinations

Grade IX Examinations

The following lists contain the names of the students who have successfully covered the work of grade IX, at the Collegiate Institute, during the past year and passed the tests required for admission to grade X on the reopening of school this fall. Those whose names occur in list (a) are promoted unconditionally. Those whose names occur in list (b) are promoted conditionally. These latter have failed to make the required minimum in some particular, or to take all the tests required of them. It will be necessary for them to reduce their course by at least one of the optional subjects, (Latin or French) before being allowed to attempt the work of grade X. If these languages are essential they must be brought up to standard before the student enters grade X, or the other work on which the student is weak brought up to such standard before grade X is attempted with the addition of the optional subjects. It would be inadvisable from the student's standpoint, and practically impossible from the standpoint of the organiaztion to have students in grade X attempting to do grade IX work in any subjects.
Students who left school previous to the final tests are simply marked  "failed". Students who wrote the final examinations and whose names are not included in these lists may obtain particulars from the principal.
