The LaPorte County (IN) Genealogical Society offers membership in First Families of LaPorte County (IN) to anyone who can document their descent from a person who resided in LaPorte County, IN prior to December 1840. The primary purposes of First Families of LaPorte County (IN) are:
Applications must include documented proof of descent and a brief family history. These will be preserved by the Genealogical Society at the LaPorte County Historical Society, Inc.'s Museum for reference by other genealogists and will be an historical record for future generations. Application fee for member of the LaPorte County Genealogical Society is $20.00; non-members, $25.00. Membership includes a one-year membership in the society and entitles the member to the society's quarterly Newsletter. Deadline for receipt of applications is 31 July of each year. Certificates will be issued at the meeting of the Society in December. Certificates will be mailed to those who cannot attend the awarding in person.
