From the Gazette-Patriot, Carrollton, IL, Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 - from an article dealing with Greene County Days.

Situated in Section 15 of Rubicon Township, this cemetery recorded its first burial in 1851. The cemetery, which may at one time have been known as Pleasant Mound Cemetery, has been involed in its share of controversy over the years. At one time, the township used cemetery property to store piles of gravel and had to be taken to court to have it removed. Also, some of the headstones that were once documented as being there have vanished. Still remaining is a Collins family tombstone that a cedar tree has grown around (see above), and a Dickerson family tombstone that lists family members buried in other states. There is a small separately fenced area where the Parks family is buried (see photo above).

Located about 3 miles north of Greenfield. To reach this cemetery in central Rubicon Township, use U.S. Route 67 as a starting point. Turn east on County Route 23, drive one-fourth mile, turn north and drive one-half mile, then east one-fourth mile, then north one-fourth mile and the cemetery is on the west side of the road. County Route 23 is the road that crosses U.S. Route 67 exactly two miles north of Greenfield's Oakwood Cemetery. Note: if a name appears in a different color, click on the name to bring up a picture of that individual's tombstone.

Location: Section 15 (southwest quarter of the northwest quarter), Township 11 North, Range 10 West, 3PM.
