The present church in Box was built in 1952. It replaced an iron mission hall. St. Barnabas 1951 -52 by Architect Peter Falconer of Anderson, Roiser & Falconer. Built of stone, with a Cotswold stone roof. Nave and chancel, the windows with shoulder-arched lights. West bellcote with gilded aluminium spirelet. Singing gallery at West end.
Prior to this Funerals were always on Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon to Minchinhampton. This was because it was the only time they could get enough men to carry the coffin the one mile to Minchinhampton. It is figured that this is the last church built of stone in England.
