Fredericksburg court records list the murder of a John BERRY in 1801. There are several types of court records listed for this murder: indictment against Moses BURBRIDGE for murder; indictment against John MILLER, and Commonwealth action against Archibald BURDEN, William STEWARD, and Jesse HORD.

Does anyone know about this John BERRY and his murder? Jesse HORD is my relative, and I would like to know more about this case.

Looking for information on Robert McClary/McCleary, father of Tandy B. McClary/McCleary - In The Fredericksburg Daily Star, July 1, 1898 - Robert McCleary is mentioned in the "Camp Cobb" column - in The Virginia Herald, Fredericksburg, Virginia April 4, 1793 Robert McCleary is mentioned in the "List of Letters in the Post Office" column - I know that Robert was the father of Tandy B. McClary/McCleary who was born in Orange County, Virginia - but I have not been able to connect the Robert with Tandy B. McCleary.
Tandy B. McClary b. about 1807 in Orange County, Virginia married Mary Frances Jacobs 20 March 1837 in Orange County, Virginia. They had twelve children - those known are:

(l) Charles L. McClary b. 1840 married Lucy Bledsoe
(2) James Garland McClary b. 1844 married Rachel Bledsoe (lst) then Susan Ellis (2nd)
(3) Mary A. McClary b. about 1846 married Herod Anderson
(4) George Strother McCleary b. about 1849 married Mary Florence Purcell
(5) John Ledrew McClary b. about 1850
(6) Martha Jane McClary b. about 1855 married Larkin (of Fredericksburg) then D. T. Saunders
(7) Elizabeth N. McClary b. August 12, 1856 Tandy B. McClary was bondsman for: (l) William F. McClary and Phoebe Dempsey (her father Daniel Dempsey) (2) bondsman for Elizabeth Jacobs and John I. Heney 29 February 1836.
Children surviving Mrs. Mary Frances Jacobs McCleary (widow of Tandy B.) in 1910 were - Mr. Strother McCleary of Baltimore, James Garland McCleary of Scottsville, and Charles McCleary of Rapidan, Virginia(twenty three grandchildren - fifty three great-grandchildren - grandmother of Mrs. Jeremiah Morton of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Nancy Gertrude McCleary of Fredericksburg, Virginia (in 1900 there were five children living of twelve born to Tandy B. and Mary Frances Jacobs McCleary/McClary).
Have not been able to find Robert, the father of Tandy B. McClary - any help will be appreciated and I am willing to share information.

They are found in the 1860 census in Fredericksburg with a son James and another child O. WILLIAMS. In the birth records, also found another daughter Jennette or Jennetta born in 1861. Interested in their parents and all of their children.

I am seeking information on the BUMBREY, BUMBRY, BUNBERRY, BUNBURY family, particularly the descendants of Richard Bunberry (c1780's). A few of Richard's descendants "given" names include, Thomas, Henry, William Bunbury (Bumbrey), Martha, Marie, and Kezziah. My grandfather, George Bumbrey is also a descendant of Richard Bunberry. George Bumbrey married Ellen Lucas Douglas. Ellen is an African American whose mother was half Indian. George and Ellen were born in the late 1800s and lived in the King George and Fredericksburg areas. They had sixteen children. Any information provided is greatly appreciated.

I am looking to locate the sister of my Robert George LAYTON, who was in Fredericksburg, Va in the mid 1800s. His father was Thomas LAYTON of Middlesex Co, Va. Roberts sister was Elizabeth LAYTON. Little else is known of her. Robert died in Fredericksburg in 1879. Any help in locating Elizabeth or learning what happened to her would be appreciated.

Adam DONALDSON is from Scotland/England (b) 1767. He resided in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania Co., VA. He married 9 Apr 1801 in Madison County to Eve HUFFMAN / HOFMANN.
Adam died 9 Oct 1823 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania Co., VA and Eve died in 1830 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania Co., VA. I do not know where they are buried.

I am looking for any info on the DEWITT family that lived in Fredericksburg and migrated south to the Darlington, SC area in the 1760'. The patriach of the family was Martin DeWitt, who was married to Ellen Douthel. They had four sons, William, Harris, Thomas and John. It is my understanding that he fought in the Revolutionary War in South Carolina though advanced in years. I do know that his son, Willam was born in 1750. Whether he was born in VA, I don't know? _____ HAMIL / HAMMIL / HAMMEL and Elizabeth COOK were married in Fredericksburg March 1, 1790. I am seeking to find verification of the marriage and the first name of the Mr. Hamil. They had a daughter Sarah Ann who was born in Yorktown December 1, 1796. She was baptized January 22, 1799. I have no verification of any of these dates and would love to find documentation regarding the family. Mr. Hamil died about 1798 or 1799. Elizabeth then married Andrew RUSK. Andrew adopted Sarah. Please help me or direct me to information to verify this situation. Andrew and Elizabeth lived in Ontario, CAN, after the 1800's. He may have come into the marriage with children of his own.
