The county seat is located at
Lockhart
which celebrated its sesquicentennial in 2002.

Historical Research Center maintained by the Caldwell
County Genealogical and Historical Society.

The Historical Research Center has a growing collection of vertical files, ancestor charts and books about people and events in the county and the various communities, including many church and/or cemetery records and family histories. Volunteers are in the HRC daily to assist researchers.

TXGenWeb Project ArchivesCaldwell County Historical Commission, Lockhart -- The Caldwell Historical Museum is found in the old Caldwell County Jail which is located on East Market Street just east of Hwy. 183 in Lockhart. Hours of operation are from 1 or 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a docent who is paid to be there during those hours. The museum is operated by the Caldwell County Historical Commission.
