The Broken Arrow Genealogical Society is the grateful recipient of the research collection, artifacts and furniture formerly owned by the Oklahoma Civil War Veterans Archives, Inc. of Tulsa.  There were over 2600 items:  books, magazines, microfilm and fiche, videos, cassette tapes and maps.  In addition to Civil War material, publications related to other wars, Colonial History, American history and Oklahoma histories and records are shelved in the new room.  The collection includes some Civil War era novels and videos which will be available for check-out by members only.

Grand Opening for New Library Room

FROM THE PRESIDENT

On Saturday, June 19, 2004, we celebrated the opening of our new library room and its collections of Civil War and other War Records.  The 1st Arkansas Artillery (reenactors in uniform) with three of their artillery pieces, a 6# field piece and a "Dahlgren boat gun" were on display.  Also in attendance with this group was a surgeon's assistant (female in period dress) with medical equipment from the Civil War Period...

Although we had some showers during the morning, those in attendance had a good time.  If you have not seen our new collection and space, you should make a special effort to do so and if you have visited, come back and research our collection to assist in your family search.

See photos of the new library room, below.
