LICKING COUNTY BICENTENNIAL PIONEER PROJECT

Has any branch of your family tree had roots in Licking County since 1808? 1820? 1830?
For the Licking County 200th birthday (1808-2008) the Licking County Genealogical Society
hopes to identify "Early Pioneers" -- households in this area 1808-1830. There is no fee for this
special "Early Pioneer" observation. Membership in L.C.G.S. is not required.

The Society continues to encourage families to complete files for "Pioneers" listed in the 1820
Census. L.C.G.S. also identifies "First Families" based on the 31 December 1830 residents.
To date 275 First Families have been verified.

To honor your ancestors, you are invited to outline your lineage to these pioneers. Individuals
who can prove their "Pioneer Ancestors" will be recognized at the August meeting of the Licking
County Genealogical Society (you need not be present to receive the certificate).

The Bicentennial Pioneer Project has been a fantastic success!
More than 100 individuals have submitted the names of several hundred pioneer ancestors
who lived, married and died in Licking County, Ohio before 1830.
However, since the deadline has passed, we've received requests from others to add their ancestors.
Either they missed the deadline, forgot and/or didn't even know about the project.
We're extending the deadline for Phase II to October 15, 2008 with the presentation of those certificates
at the December meeting at Zerger Hall, Monday, December 1st, 2008.
For those who would like applications, forms are still available at the LCGS Library,
or use the links to the forms below.
There was also a form in the last issue of the Licking Lantern, Vol. XXXIII No. 2, 2008.
