Axtell Cemetery First Burial 1801
Harvard Grove First Burial 1880
Est 1881

Disclaimer

History:
Axtell Cemetery being the oldest cemetery in the county started in 1801.  In 1880 Conotton Railroad wanted and purchased the land.  The bodies needed to be removed and reintered to another cemetery.  Hence the city looked at another track of land to purchase for a burial ground.  Harvard Grove Cemetery was founded in 1880.  Approx. September or October 1880 the bodies were disintered and reintered to Harvard Grove Cemetery.  Many families did not reintered their family at Harvard Grove;  therefore, some were reintered to Erie Street or Woodland Cemetery.

Genealogy research through mail:  Currently free.  Please send a LONG self addressed stamped envelope (LSASE) with your request.  Please don't forget to include your snail mail address in the letter, sometimes the envelopes get separated from the request.  Requests take approximate 4 to 6 weeks for response.

Would you like a photograph of a headstone? I will do City of Cleveland (owned) Cemeteries.  If someone else would like to register in doing requests at other cemeteries, please let me know.  I get a lot of requests for other cemeteries and I am not capable of doing them all.  (I am independent from the City of Cleveland.  They are in no way participating in photographs of headstones and are not liable for such services I render.)
