History:
Brookmere Cemetery was acquired by the City of Cleveland in 1906 when
the village of South Brooklyn was annexed. Brookmere Cemetery
consists
of Brooklyn Township Cemetery, opened in 1836; Brighton Cemetery,
opened
in 1859; and South Brooklyn Cemetery, opened in 1899. These
cemeteries
were combined and then renamed Brookmere Cemetery.

Genealogy research through mail:
Currently free. Please send a LONG self addressed stamped
envelope
(LSASE) with your request. Please don't forget to include
your
snail mail address in the letter, sometimes the envelopes get
separated
from the request. Requests take approximate 4 to 6 weeks for
response.

Would you like a photograph of a headstone? I will do City of Cleveland (owned) Cemeteries. If someone else would like to register in doing requests at other cemeteries, please let me know. I get a lot of requests for other cemeteries and I am not capable of doing them all. (I am independent from the City of Cleveland. They are in no way participating in photographs of headstones and are not liable for such services I render.)
NOTE:
- Please have grave location before visiting the cemetery. Maps for all City of Cleveland (owned) cemeteries are at Highland Park Cemetery and some can be downloaded including other surrounding cemeteries.
- The City of Cleveland (owned) Cemeteries does not have birth information, next of kin, death certificates or cemetery inscription information.
- Before writing to the cemetery, make sure you have the following information: Full name of deceased, date of death, cemetery where buried. Do not send general requests such as, "please send me a list of all Smiths buried in your cemeteries." The records are not computerized at the cemetery at this time and are in the process of being computerized.
