The Carroll County, Ohio
Genealogical Society

Welcome to the Carroll County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society web site.  We hope you will find your ancestral information on this site.

Carroll county was formed on Christmas day 1832 from its five neighboring counties -- Stark, Columbiana, Jefferson, Harrison, and Tuscarawas.

The county was named for Charles Carroll, last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence.  Originally, Carrollton was called Centerville when it was founded.
