Bishop Colton commissioned the Rev. Thomas O'Hern to establish a new parish in the northeastern section of the city in September, 1912. Father O'Hern secured property on Grider Street and said the first Mass in a temporary structure, December 15, 1912. Shortly afterwards he started a combination church and school building of brick, which was dedicated by Bishop Colton, assisted by Bishop Wherle of Dakota, February 22, 1914. A fine rectory was completed, April 1, 1923.
For several years Father O'Hern has delivered a series of public
lectures, during the Lenten season, for non-Catholics; and out
of this has grown the Converts' League.
