OUR PURPOSE: To welcome all who are interested in Norwegian genealogy,
and Norwegian topic.  We encourage all of you to join us.  If your just new to the computer,
or a seasoned genealogist, your welcome here.  Norwaylist is a large community,
full of people who love to share their resources and help.  You too, can share
any resource you have, or special talent you think will enhance the list. Most of us here
have been onlist for many years.  People tend to come and stay.  Its a friendly place,
where alot is learned, and friendships and gatherings are very common.  Check out

Its a good idea to have your own translation program and dictionaries
available, and seek out your translations there, before asking for help with these on list.
 

Guidelines

1.  REPLIES:  Please remove most of the old message, before sending your
new reply to the list. We want to avoid seeing old messages twice on the list, and archives.
Messages, with 1, 2, or 3 other messages tagging along should not be sent to list.

2.  SUBJECT LINES:   Make sure these match the actual subject of your email post.

3. TROUBLEMAKERS  Joining under an alias, to purposely cause problems or disrupt the list,
or disrespect the listowner because you were removed, is not allowable.  Norwaylist covers all
counties in Norway.  Anyone is free to join any list they wish, but promotion of these here is not welcome.

4.  CORRECTING OTHERS:  Respect other's rights of expression at all times.
Do not correct or negatively comment on other's spelling, actions,  content of
message, or opinions you disagree with.   Instead, use the delete button
or write to the list owner with your complaints at Karlena@adelphia.net.
Historical facts should be corrected, in a polite way.
Send the correction to the submitter first, for their comments and awareness.

5.  THANK YOU'S: Thanking others for their assistance is very important.
BUT it should be done OFF LIST for things that were done for you by
one person.   Multiple helpers, and out of the ordinary assistance deserve
to be Thanked onlist.   Also, "one liners" like "Good site," "Sounds Interesting,"
and "Me too" are best only to be sent off list to the person your commenting too.
 

6.  SIGNATURE LINES: Remove your signature lines when posting to Norway List.
Things under your name like addresses, phones, sayings, etc. should be left off. Personal web page
addresses may be posted  We will happily post your web page URL on the Lister's Web Page site also.

7. VIRUS ALERTS, POEMS: Keep Virus Alerts Off Norway List. Along with
Alerts of any kind, (e.g.) Cookie recipe scam, chain letters, No poems
or jokes,  surveys, political comments, calls for emails to be sent to protest, et.
Send questionable material to list owner Karlena@adelphia.net for prior approval.

8.  ROLL CALLS: Please do not make any request on the list that would
require EVERY person to make a response (e.g. "I'd like to know where
everyone on the list lives," or "Why don't we all send in the Norwegian
names we are researching," or "I'm taking a survey on how much 'Norwegian
blood' is in each lister," etc.) Always check with the listowner before attempting
something of this nature, or anything which might be questionable.

9. PROPER TYPING:  Use capital letters at the beginning of sentences, and lower case for
sentences. All CAPTIAL letters means yelling to some.  If you have a medical condition
of any kind that prevents this, you welcome to post as needed.  Most importantly, is that
you do post and enjoy the group as much as all the others.
