*Researchers unfamiliar with western Polk County, especially the East Grand Forks area, should be aware of important facts.
East Grand Forks (EGF) is on the ND border.
Across the state border (Red River of the North), is Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, ND.
EGF has never had a hospital and until the mid-1960s did not have a cemetery (Resurrection).
If you believe a birth/death/burial was "in East Grand Forks," you might want to expand your search to the USGenWeb sites for ND and Grand Forks County.
The two oldest cemeteries in Grand Forks ND are Calvary and Memorial Park.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Prior to 24 December 1896,
present-day Red Lake County was part of
Polk County.
As of 24 December 1896, Red
Lake County was formed with the
county seat at the City of Red Lake Falls.

Neither the USGenWeb Project nor its members are responsible for the contents of any "third party" site which you may access from a link on this page."
The USGenWeb Project
will not tolerate any copyright violations. Lookup requests from copyrighted books should be limited to one name, or perhaps two if it is a married couple. Information given should be minimal, for example:If it is a cemetery lookup, the information should be the name of the cemetery and the dates on the headstone.
If someone asks for "everybody with X surname" or an entire family group, or for hardcopies to be mailed, please advise that The USGenWeb Project volunteers have been asked not to comply with such requests.
Lookups can extend to searching the copyrighted material to determine if the material would be helpful to the requester in their research. Should the copyrighted material prove useful, the volunteer can provide the author's address and ordering information.
Cemetery listings and pictures may be posted to the site if the cemetery was walked and transcribed by the submitter. The submitters name, address and date obtained will be made available to the County Coordinator BEFORE it is posted.
The USGenWeb Project will endeavour to get a WRITTEN statement from each copyright holder which stipulates which books may be used for lookups.
