Welcome to the years 1996 & 2001 Query page at McLeod County. Queries posted on this page were entered for the years 1996 and 2001 only. There is no record of 2000. The queries are alphabetized based on the first surname requested in each query. If you are looking for a specific surname it may be easier to use the Surname Index rather than search through all the queries.
You are invited to submit a query for your McLeod County ancestors.
Your query must specify a McLeod County connection to be posted on the current query page.
Every effort will be made to post your query to the current query page and to add your surname(s) to the Surname Index list within 72 hours.
Please review existing queries to get an idea of what formats have been used, however, the format is quite loose so feel free to use your own style.
If you send your query by regular e-mail, be sure that McLeod County Query is the subject of your email.
Queries are listed in alphabetical order (see above). McLeod County is included on the US GenWeb Query site. You may also wish to try your query there.

KAPELA, MALAK
KAMINSKI, Stanley arrived 1885 to stay with his sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Andrew
KAPELA in Hale, McLeod, MN. He later moved to a farm and in 1892 was married in St. Adelbert's Catholic Church, Silver Lake. His wife's
name was Julia BUDZYNSKA / RUDZYNSKA. According to local church records,
Stanley's father's name was Albert KAMINSKI. Stanley might have had a brother Martin

KRANT, BREYER
Researching Friedrick Krant, lived on a farm approximately 7 to 8 miles
north of Glencoe. Present owner of farm is Erwin Posusta. Approximate
time frame is 1900 - 1901. I am not sure he is buried in this county or not. I would just be happy to know he existed at all.
I just have church records from a church in Lester Prairie to verify his existence.
He is my g-g-grandfather. He could have been at this farm site since 1877. That is a date I have
from a church record and cannot read the German headings of the columns.
I am researching any information on Friedrich Krant. Died 7/7/1902. Lived in McLeod County, MN. Can not find any data indicating that he died in that county. He had the following children with wife Caroline (Breyer) August, Augusta, & Mathilde. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LOPINSKI, CACAKA
I'm searching for my g-grand father and mother. Emil Max Lopinski - He was born Oct. 12, 1864 in Stranz, West Prussia. He married Josephine
Cacaka from Austria. They emigrated to the U.S. sometime in the late 1800's. I have found them in the 1895 and 1900 Census. In 1895 they lived in the township of Collins, county of McLeod, MN. Emil was 30 and Josie was 28, they had two children Mary 3 and Adelia 2. Emil was a farmer and Josie a housekeeping. In 1900 Census they were in the township of Penn. MN. They had 4 more children; Tillie, Rosa, John and Frank. The Census states immigration 1888, 12 yrs in the U.S. and that they were naturalized. He rented his land and farm schedule 68. I have not found their naturalization papers or any thing else. Josephine died in between the census. I have no record of her death. It also appears that Adelia died also. Emil moved to Canada in 1902 or 1903. He came with a group called German American Land Co. headed by Catholic Settlement Society of St. Paul. Messrs. Haskamp and Hoeschen were the organizers. And a group of 26 men. Rev. Father Bruno Doerfler was among these people also. If you happen to find any information would you please contact me at
wazwwt@shaw.ca. I'm at a stand still.
Thank-you very much,

MULVANNY, GRAU
I am researching my Great Grandparents John and Augusta (GRAU) MULVANNY.
They owned a General Store in Winsted between 1875-1890 (somewhere in there). Is there a place I can find a business directory for Winsted that
may give me more information on the store and them?
The store may have been owned by her parents, Edward and Mary GRAU.
Any information on the GRAUs, the store or the MULVANNYs would be quite
helpful. (Or the direction to find them)
