FLINT HILLS GENEALOGICAL
SOCIETY OF

WELCOME!
Founded
in 1977, our society is dedicated to promoting awareness of family history and
helping people in their genealogical research. The society is a non-profit organization
with 501 3c status. We rely on the work of volunteers and individual donations
to help pay expenses, and add to the genealogical collections of our area.
This is a growing site as time and volunteers permit. We are a small group,
but want to provide as many on-line records as possible, to assist your Lyon
County, Kansas research efforts. Check back often as we will be adding more
information from time to time.
Search this site, but remember to check all spellings. Note, that some records
are typed as they were recorded and not always the way the name should be spelled,
so be sure to check out the sites below. NOTE: This search does NOT include
the Lyon County Newspaper Indices by the Hodges. For this you will need to use
the RootsWeb search engine below is for Newspapers only. Not all of the indices
have been uploaded to RootsWeb yet, but many of the very early one have.

DISCLAIMER: The Flint Hills Genealogical Society is not responsible
for possible mistakes that might appear on any of the following pages on our
site. All indices and extractions were done by humans, and therefore are open
to errors, or misreading of handwriting. There may have been errors in the official
recording of the information, and those are then passed on here. There may have
also been errors in transferring the information to this site, and while all
were proofread many times, errors may still exist. Every effort has been made
to make them as correct as possible, in order to help any researcher visiting
this site to find information on their family.
Remember when in doubt always contact the original source of information.
We do provide research services on a requested basis, all that we ask is a donation
to cover the costs of copies, and postage. Our researchers are volunteers, and
all extra donations go to the Flint Hills Genealogical Society to be used in
enhancement of genealogy/local history collections at the Emporia Public Library,
and the Lyon County Historical Society. It is the purpose of our organization
"to educate, to promote interest and to assist in acquiring, preserving and
sharing genealogical and historical materials and methods relative to compiling
family histories."
