Genealogy Record Sites on the Internet - Sept. 13

Debbie Engelking will present "Genealogy Record Sites on the Internet" at GSMC's September meeting. The meeting, on Saturday, Sept. 13, will be in Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library's Southport branch, 2630 East Stop 11 Road. The meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. The GSMC board will meet at 12:30 p.m.

 

 

How To Use Our Website :

Each of the buttons on the left take you to different web pages that we have created for your convenience. You may need to double-click on the button you select. Below are descriptions of the type of information you will find by clicking on each of the buttons to the left.

 

If you cannot see the buttons on the left (little x's in boxes) it's because you need Java virtual machine installed. You can download it FREE at this website http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Please note that if you do NOT want to download Java Virtual Machine, I have included simple links below where I describe each button. There is a Home link on the bottom of all pages to bring you back here.

 

Search - A page that allows you to search our GSMC Family Quest Journal Indexes for a surname or to search our GSMC Library Catalog.

 

Cemeteries - Links to listings of all the cemeteries in Marion County.

Other Data - Data collected from various sources including Research\Resource locations, Church Records, 1830 census transcription, school information, photos submitted, and a list of the records available from the Microfilm Archives Division of the City-County building in Indianapolis.  We are constantly adding to this section of our site. So check back often!

Ancestry Registry - Enter your Marion County Ancestor's information that you would like to make a connection with other researcher's. Or search the database of entries submitted. This is a good place to put your brick walls!

Publications - A list of the publication we have for sale complete with a printable order form.

Library - This page currently contains a very limited  listing of our library holdings.  As stated above, GSMC is working very hard at getting the entire catalog online.  Check back later for a much improved library page!

Event Calendar - A listing of genealogical events including all GSMC events, Indiana related events, and even other state's events. This is a good place to go for genealogy events!!

Membership - This page describes our membership privileges, costs, and has a printable membership form for you to fill out and mail in.

Links - This is the standard links page that most sites have.  Lots of good links to genealogical websites.

Projects - This page lists all the projects that GSMC currently has in the works as well as a list of projects we'd like to someday undertake. Volunteers needed!!

Officers - This page lists all the current GSMC Directors and contact information for most.

Who We Are - This page gives the history of GSMC and our purpose.

Researchers - This page contains links to websites for researcher's-for-a-fee that do research in the local Indiana area.

The GSMC Library will be open from 1:00 to 4:00 pm the fourth SATURDAY of each month. Parking is FREE behind the building, which is patrolled by the full-time Crown Hill security staff.
