county from
Vermilion county in 1855. See the queries in Iroquois

QUERY: Bonjour, I am a descendant of Granger, Lebeau,
LeCuyer and LeClair families who settled in St. George and Bourbonnais
with my
Great, Great Grandparents, Charles & Francoise Mathieu Granger
settling in
St. George about 1847. His Biography states, before arriving to St.
George, that
they first stopped in Aurora, Illinois. I found out later that other
French
Canadian families who eventually became relatives of mine did the same.
Aurora
which is about 50 miles west of Chicago was known to be a Stage Coach
and Wagon
Train resting stop. I believe my family stayed in Aurora just for a few
months
for rest, including their horses before moving onward to Bourbonnais
and St.
George. What I am looking for if it is available, is a map showing
their
migration route by land. Up to now, I think that the poor dirt farmers
went by
wagon train coming down through Wisconsin. Stopped in Aurora for rest
and then
proceeded to Bourbonnais. The French Canadian's that were well to do,
went by
the water ways, from barge to Steam Ship and landed on the shores of
Chicago. But
I am really interested on the group that went to the Aurora rest stop
first. If
you can help me find this map, I would really appreciate it.

unknown man. The photo has been in the posession of the Rogers side of
my family.
At the bottom of the photo, it says "McLeansboro, Goodrich, Illinois".
I cannot locate whether McLeansboro is a town or photographer. Any
ideas?
