This book contains information on nearly 500 individuals and families whose descendants came to Maryland. Many families in this book such as the Frowicks, Lewkenors and Wroths did not come themselves, but were ancestors through marriage of daughters who did. Very helpful if a person is trying to trace the "footsteps" of a circuit rider or early minister. List by years each church served as well a location. The people in this book are from the years 1628-1776. In many cases it list the parents names and date/place of birth as well as date and place of death. All of the churches that this minister was associated with are listed by the year. There is no mention of a wife and family however. SW5

Volumes I-X - edited by Milnor Ljungstedt; originally published in Bethesda, MD 1921 - 1931 and 1935-1936, reprinted Genealogical Publishing Company, Inc., Baltimore, MD 1972. Note: This book includes material from numerous states: Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, the Carolinas, Delaware, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. It contains references to New Englanders found in the court records of other states, Virginia head rights, Maryland's next of kin, and Newcasle County, Delaware tax list of 1776, to name only a few. This is a rare and little known work. The writer Hannah Milnor (Robison) Ljungstedt was born in 1858 and died in 1942. The note-books were originally published separately. Mrs. Mary K. Meyer, Genealogical Librarian, Maryland Historical Society wrote the introduction. LPT

"1914 R.L. Polk Baltimore City Directory." This city directory contains business and individual listings for the city of Baltimore. The occupation, name and address of the head of the household is given. Married women who are heads of households are listed by their Christian names. People working outside the home are listed. Businesses are listed alphabetically and also by class of business. Many of the business listings list the names of the pricipal officers of the business as well as the addresses and sometimes phone numbers are included. Individual listings note whether individuals are "colored" as noted by an asterisk (*) by their name, or not withÊno asterisk. TD

Although it is well known that the recordation of vital records in Baltimore City was required by law commencing January 1, 1875, few of us realize that prior to that date, there existed a system for keeping records within the City.
