GENANZ at RootsWeb
Genealogy in Australia and New Zealand

The homepage for the newsgroup SOC.GENEALOGY.AUSTRALIA+NZ
and the mailing list GENANZ-L.

GENANZ started as the name of the mailing list and digest list for the discussion of genealogy and family history of people of Australia and New Zealand. This mailing list is partnered to the newsgroup soc.genealogy.australia+nz. You can read our mail either via your newsreader or via your email. Read on for more information.

Our History

The newsgroup started in October 1995, the mailing list (GENANZ-L) started in October 1996 and due to demand the digest (GENANZ-D) started in February 1997, quickly followed by a non-MIME digest (GENANZ-NMD) and a daily index form (GENANZ-I). The lists are hosted by our wonderful friends here at RootsWeb. If you want to read more about the newsgroup and mailing list read the guidelines / FAQ. (Updated 1 January 1999)

Boss Hogg's (aka Boss Cocky's) Memorabilia

There are some dedicated and vociferous correspondents at GENANZ.  One of them has named the listowner 'Boss Hogg' or her Australian version 'Boss Cocky'.  Another facetiously suggested  the Boss Hogg Memorabilia Room.
Well this, is that listowner's revenge.  What follows is some classic postings demonstrating some moments of New Zealander and Australian humour at its best and worst.
Alternatively called 'Outrageously off topic but oh so funny'
  • I.B. Kidding:  Supervision of Pat Rossi nominated by Boss Cocky himself
  • Pat Rossi:  Dunnies and other trivia nominated by Pearl Wilson

    Thanks to our hosts

RootsWeb, our generous host, is run by Brian Leverich and Karen Isaacson and a team of dedicated behind-the-scenes people.
I ask you to step by the RootsWeb's pages and look at the facilities that they offer. There is no bigger organisation that is doing as much for genealogy on the net. However, RootsWeb needs your support to grow and continue to provide more and better mailing lists, databases, homepages, chatlines, search facilities plus so much more. Supporting RootsWeb is recognition of all the hard work volunteered by the all, especially the owners Karen and Brian.
