Our Beginnings
In the spring of 1998, Liz Andrews held a workshop for wanna-be-genealogists and discovered
that there was a need for a support group. So, our first meeting was held in October 1998.
Our membership has doubled since that first year.
Our goal has always been: To promote the study of genealogy; establish relations with
genealogists worldwide; teach our members effective research skills and also provide
them with a reference library.
We do have our own reference library and computer equipment, all graciously donated by
our own members. We have also brought in several guest speakers over the last three years.
We are currently looking into the possibility of having microfilm reader/printers
brought in to our local library for all library patrons to use.
Genealogists, no matter what experience they have, are always welcome to join us for
our meetings which are held the first Wednesday of each month in the side room of
the north branch of the Cold Lake Library in the Harbour View Community Centre.
Dues are only $10.00 per year which go towards equipment and books, etc. for our club.
